Milwaukee Skyline photos at night and early morning on Lake Michigan on a misty subzero day - Moon Skyline images - MP3 Music

Milwaukee Skyline at night (actually, very early morning). This was taken on Lake Michigan at Bradford Beach on a subzero morning with temperatures at -16 to -20. I used the flash which captured the mist off the lake and created that cool effect. This is my current favorite Milwaukee Skyline photo. M2, do you see the monster-like things in the mist? Photos by Mike Fisk

I really dig this spot for taking lake pictures and I've gone there a number of times. I'm anxious to take some more next week (I thought about going out this morning, but I'm a little under the weather today). It's a really great place to capture the ice along Lake Michigan. Earlier in the season, as the cold eases into the area, you often get the steam off the lake which adds a lot to your images. The above image I took with a flash. It's the only one I took like that. I wish I taken more of the city with a flash, because it came out so cool. I'll have to do that next time.

The sun hits the Milwaukee buildings and turns them into gems. It's really quite breath taking (and not just cause it's so d*mn cold).

Here's the Milwaukee Art Museum. This one is taken 45 minutes to an hour before sunrise.

The pink sunrise and streaming smoke from the stacks. And the moon.

Widow's Walk - Lake Michigan Autumn Early Morning/Night Photos - Werner Piano Tune recorded in November in Colorado - Photos from October 22, 2008

Autumn Early Morning or Very Late Night Photos on Lake Michigan North of Milwaukee for the piano tune, Widow's Walk. Photos by Mike Fisk

I recorded this tune on my grandmother's Werner upright piano in Colorado in November of 2008. It was, as usual, a written on the fly tune. When I listened to it, it made me think of waiting for someone and then I thought of those railed walkways on the roofs of old home at fishing villages (you see them on the East Coast). These walkways were used to scan the sea for the return of loved ones. So it's sad and it yet hopeful. I hope you like it. And I hope you like these Lake Michigan pics that seem to match the tune as well. I'll try and post more pics tomorrow. I think I'll post some Milwaukee skyline images.

Rainbow of colors in photos of Lake Michigan in the mists of subzero temperaturs in the middle of January 2009. Art in Nature. Dig it. And Listen.

Lake Michigan has really been a magnet for photo opportunities. For me and for others. There were half a dozen photographers freezing with me on the Friday I took these pics. I have a photo of one in a subsequent post that you'll have to wait for...

BTW, I'm working on some more music... so stand by. Some sh*t is on it's way.

Golden Sunrise in Mist on Lake Michigan with Shore Ice on the Coldest Day in Milwaukee in 2009 so far at Bradford Beach -- Soul Amp Tunes as always

It was -20 degrees Farenheit when I went out to take Lake Pics on January 16th, 2009 at Lake Michigan in Milwaukee. The Airport Temp was -16, but my vehicle's temp gauge said -20 and it's usually pretty accurate. Photos by Mike Fisk

I'm amazed at how beautiful it was on last Friday. Of course it was really cold. I wasn't that well dressed for it. I had on my long john's and boots and all that, but when it's that cold it's nice to have the car near by to warm up in.

Sometimes it's also hard to push the buttons of the camera using gloves, but I learned years ago to never take my gloves off. Even dressed the way I was, my fingers and feet got cold. I moved around a lot and that helped. Today is in the teens and it really doesn't feel that bad and it's amazing how warm the 20s are feeling. So you do adjust some.

Next time, I think I'll put on my ski pants and jacket.

What's so awesome about taking pics on Lake Michigan when it's that cold is the ice and the mist. The lake is warmer than the air so you get a lot of steam. When the sun shines through it, it looks like fire.

So here's more pics from the coldest day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, so far. These are taken at Bradford Beach just North of Milwaukee. I have more and I hope to get the rest posted by the end of the week.

What an amazing day!

It's been a long day coming.

I hope everyone has a great day and appreciates this moment in time. It shows that things don't always have to stay the way they are.

I wish the best for all of us!

Photos of Lake Michigan Ice Formations in Sunrise on the Coldest Day in Milwaukee so far in 2009 - Lake Michigan Sunrise Mist and Ice - Soul Amp Music

Happy Martin Luther King day to everyone!

I decided to go out and takes some photos of Lake Michigan sunrise on the coldest day yet to far this year, Friday, January 16, 2009. The reading in my vehicle said minus 20 degress Farenheit. This was the coldest it's been in 2 decades. I think the Airport temperature was -16 degrees.

I have a bunch of pics of the ice formations and the mist that comes of the lake when it's that cold. So I'll be posting those over the next week or so.

The reason you get all the great mist is due to the temperature of the water being so much warmer than the air. So it evaporates pretty quickly.

You can also see some of the ice volcanos (if you look closely... more on that during a later post).
