Happy Martin Luther King day to everyone!

I decided to go out and takes some photos of Lake Michigan sunrise on the coldest day yet to far this year, Friday, January 16, 2009. The reading in my vehicle said minus 20 degress Farenheit. This was the coldest it's been in 2 decades. I think the Airport temperature was -16 degrees.

I have a bunch of pics of the ice formations and the mist that comes of the lake when it's that cold. So I'll be posting those over the next week or so.

The reason you get all the great mist is due to the temperature of the water being so much warmer than the air. So it evaporates pretty quickly.

You can also see some of the ice volcanos (if you look closely... more on that during a later post).

Classical photo of sunrise but definitely beautiful. Good composition.
